Toll reimbursement (refund)

Upon request, the Federal Office for Goods Transport will reimburse excessive tolls.

Mauterstattung

The Federal Office will reimburse manually paid tolls after the validity period has expired:

  • if a toll debtor was unable to carry out a trip booked via the Toll Collect app or online for actual reasons, and
  • if, in addition, it was not possible to cancel the booking before or during the validity period of the ticket.

The reimbursement is effected according to these conditions:

  • The original booking receipt or the printout of the internet booking must be attached to the application. In the case of multiple booking, all booking receipts are required in the original.
  • The failure to commence a journey or a break in the journey must be proven by means of suitable evidence, .e.g. by means of an accident report, a certificate or a workshop invoice.
  • The reimbursement application must reach the Federal Office within a period of 2 months after the expiry of the validity period of the booking slip.
  • The application can only be sent by post.
  • The processing of the application is subject to a fee. The fee is 20 Euro and is offset against the reimbursement amount.
  • The official reimbursement form from the Federal Office must be used. You can find it in the download area below. You can fill this out directly on your PC and then print it out.

Incorrect emission class registered in the on-board unit (OBU)

Please only apply for reimbursement after the emission class stored in the OBU has been changed by a Toll Collect service partner.

These documents must be submitted with the application:

  • Photocopy of the Registration certificate part I (vehicle registration)
  • Protocol of changes to the vehicle data by the service partner (workshop)


Reimbursement of tolls when installing a particulate filter

Please only apply for reimbursement after the emission class stored in the OBU has been changed by a Toll Collect service partner.

The application is made informally with details of the bank details. Alternatively, you can use the reimbursement form in the download area.

These documents must be submitted with the application:

  • Photocopy of the Registration certificate part I (vehicle registration)
  • Vehicle-related proof of the installation of the filter with details of the installation date, such as acceptance certificate, installation protocol, invoice from the workshop, guarantee certificate
  • Protocol of changes to the vehicle data by the service partner (workshop)

Identical double booking of two manual bookings

The prerequisite for a reimbursement are two manual bookings in which the licence plate number, the starting point, the end point, the route, the kilometres and the validity period are identical and only one of these bookings has been used.

Please submit these documents with the application:

  • the original booking receipt of the unused booking
  • the indication of the 16-digit registration number of the second registration

for internet bookings:

  • the single trip record from which the double booking can be seen or alternatively
  • the booking receipts of the two identical internet bookings
